Youth Day: Rethinking Our Approach to Empowering Future Leaders

Updated: Jun 19

As I've been following the news and social media discussions leading up to Youth Day, I couldn't help but notice a rather subdued sense of celebration and recognition of Youth Day this year.

It led me to reflect on the significance of our national holidays in South Africa, each rooted deeply in our heritage.

Somehow, it feels like we've lost touch with the true essence of these days. If we have grown complacent about our culture and heritage, perhaps it's time to rethink how we observe these important occasions.

Taking a moment, or day  to pause and reflect on our journey,  allows us to set intentions for our future. Creating an intentional future is crucial not only for South Africa but also for communities worldwide.

South Africa, with a median age of 27.1 according to World Economics Data, stands as a young nation where our youth are not only a focal point but the heartbeat of our nation.

Investing in their potential means securing a prosperous future for South Africa.

In an era defined by rapid technological advancement and intricate global challenges, the innovative thinking and fresh perspectives of our youth hold immense value.

It is vital that we intentionally create a culture of  empowering our young leaders by providing them with  access to quality education, which sets the stage for success and gives young people the knowledge they need to succeed.

Organisations  have a vital role to play by providing practical experiences, mentorship, and opportunities for professional growth. Internships, mentorship programs, and apprenticeships give young people the chance to learn on the job, build connections, and harness their skills with guidance from experienced professionals.

This Youth Month, and beyond, I hope we can renew our dedication to empowering our young leaders.

Let's prioritise investing in their education, nurturing their talents, and provide them with the support they need to thrive.

By collaborating with our youth, and by tapping into their energy and ideas we can build a better future for all.

As a team dedicated to solving future challenges, we are eager to collaborate with organisations in empowering future leaders with essential tools.

Reach out to us and let's join forces to propel our youth into the bright future they deserve.

Happy Youth Month!
